  • OSHA 30 Course

    A District Council 50 OSHA 30-hour course was held in February.  Successfully completing the course were the following painters and tapers:  Byron Alop, Rommel Diaz, Jeremy Duarte, Glenn Keohohou, Jr., Grant Shiroma, Robert Verano, Roland Yamashiro, Darrell Yambaw, Orlando Gapusan and Benjamin Ladera.

    Green Worker Training

    District Council 50, through a partnership with the state of Hawaii has begun training workers in Green Construction.  This course has been added to our standard HazLead class in 2011. The photo was taken at the first class on January 8, 2011.

    Painters Union AAA Winners- Fall 2010

    The Painters Union recognized 3 apprentices who won the Apprentice Achievement Award for the Fall 2010 semester. They are (l-r) Ernest Santiago Jr. (A & J Painting), Terrence Derby Jr. (Endo Painting) and Jason Bartels (M. Shiroma Painting). Derby has won the award 2 times and Bartels has won it 3 times.

    Painters Union Graduation on December 5, 2009

    On December 5, 2009, the Painters Union held a graduation ceremony for 43 apprentices at Honolulu Community College. Apprentices were honored for completing their related instruction and good attendance records. Eight apprentices from the graduating class had perfect attendance without missing a day of school for their entire apprenticeship. Congratulations!

    Kapolei High School Workshop “Shadow a Union Journeyperson Day”

    One year ago in September 2009 the ground breaking ceremony was held for Kapolei High School’s (KHS) full-scale construction project built entirely by KHS Woodshop students.
