On December 19, the Glaziers, Architectural Metal & Glassworkers, Local Union 1889, celebrated the graduation of 35 apprentices. The Class of 2009, held its graduation at the Dole Cannery, Lanai Ballroom. On December 5, 2009, the Painters Union held a graduation ceremony for 43 apprentices at Honolulu Community College. Apprentices were honored for completing their related instruction and good attendance records.
