About District Council 50
We are District Council 50 of the International
Union of Painters and Allied Trades, or IUPAT, AFL-CIO, CLC, a labor
union of 140,000+ men and women across the United States and Canada,
who are committed to providing the finest craftsmanship in our trades.
DC50 represents the painters, glaziers
and glass workers, carpet and soft tile installers, and drywall
finishers in Hawaiis Construction and Remodeling Industry.
We pride ourselves on our professionalism and tradition of excellence,
providing craft and safety and health training for our members as
well as organizing and political action.
We
strive to create a marketplace in which an atmosphere of labor/management
cooperation will enhance prosperity for Union employers while, at
the same time, insuring job security, safety, training and excellent
wages and benefits for our members.

Lynn Kinney joined the painter's union in 1971.
In 1973 he was appointed as Business Agent and held various
elected offices as Trustee, Vice President and President.
Then in 1997, he held the office of Business Manager/Financial
Secretary of the Painters Union Local 1791.
In the formation of District Council 50 in July
1999, he was elected as its Business Manager/Secretary Treasurer.
